Software:-
Software is a part of a computer system that consists of data or computer instructions, in contrast to the physical hardware from which the system is built. In computer science and software engineering, computer software is all information processed by computer systems, programs and data. Computer software includes computer programs, libraries and related non-executable data, such as online documentation or digital media. Computer hardware and software require each other and neither can be realistically used on its own
Software is a set of programs, which able a computer performs to analogue the task.
It is language which helps to work with hardware. We can use software to write letters, manage our finances, draw pictures, play games and much more.
Software is divided into two classes:-
- Application Software
- System Software
Application software:-
Application software is a term which is used for software created for a specific purpose. It is generally a program or collection of programs used by end users. It can be called an application or simply an app. In fact all the software other than system software and programming software are application software.
Software which is developed to help the user to perform specific tasks is called application software.
An application Software is a computer program designed to perform a group of coordinated functions, tasks, or activities for the benefit of the user.
The software which has been developed for a specific task is called Application Software. Application software products are designed to satisfy a particular need of a particular environment.
Application software may consist of a single program, such as a notepad for writing and editing simple text. It may also consist of a collection of programs, often called a software package, which work together to accomplish a task, such as a spreadsheet package.
Ex:-Photoshop, Tally, M.S. Office.

System software:-
System software is a type of computer program that is designed to run a computer’s hardware and application programs. If we think of the computer system as a layered model, the system software is the interface between the hardware and user applications. The operating system (OS) is the best-known example of system software. The OS manages all the other programs in a computer.
The operating system, allows the parts of a computer to work together by performing tasks like transferring data between memory and disks or rendering output onto a display device. It provides a platform (hardware abstraction layer) to run high-level system software and application software.
The software which is not used for any definite task but is used to provide a base for the working of other application software is called as System Software.
The system software is collection of programs designed to operate, control and extend the processing capabilities of the computer itself. System software is generally prepared by computer manufactures. System software serves as the interface between hardware and the users.
Ex: – Dos, Windows, M.S. Paint etc.

Hardware:-
Computer hardware is the collection of physical components that constitute a computer system. Computer hardware is the physical parts or components of a computer, such as monitor, keyboard, computer data storage, graphic card, sound card, motherboard, and so on, all of which are tangible objects. By contrast, software is instructions that can be stored and run by hardware.
Hardware is directed by the software to execute any command or instruction. A combination of hardware and software forms a usable computing system.
The physical components of the electric, electronic and mechanical equipment that makes up a computer is called Hardware. Hard-ware is any part of computer we can touch and feel.
Hardware divided into four parts:-
- Input Device
- Processing Unit
- Storage Unit
- Output Device.
