• What is Word Processing?

A word processing is an application program use for the production of any type of printed text, document, including formatting, editing and printing. It takes the advantages of a GUI (Graphical User Interface) to present data in a reliable format.

 

Features and Advantages of M.S. Word:-

  1. A word document can be viewed in 4 different ways: – Normal View, Web Layout, Print Layout, and Outline View.

Normal View is the default view of the document. In Web Layout we can preview our page as it will appear in a web browser. In Print Layout we can preview our page as it will appear when it printed. In Outline View we can specify up to seven level of head line in the document.

  1. Title bar, Menu bar, Scroll bar, Standard toolbar, Formatting toolbar and Status bar are the key element of a word window. Standard toolbar contains icon that help us quickly after the appearance and arrangement of document by executing a verity of commands. Formatting toolbar contains icon for changing the formatting of our text. Status bar displays information like current page, current/total pages in the document, current line number, column number and so on.
  • One of the basic features of M.S. Word is Word-wrap. The feature of word-wrap allows us to type without bothering about our line running out of the margin of the page.
  1. The process of changing appearance of text by changing the font type, font size, alignment of test, applying shades and color etc. is called Formatting. All formatting reselection of a piece of text.
  2. Different types of fonts are available for the user and some of them are handwriting script just as different people write the some alphabet differently. The font facility of M.S. Word enables us to choose the ways in which our alphabet script is displayed and printed.
  3. The last 4 files has been used recently is display in the list of recent document at bottom of the File menu.
  • Paragraph spacing is used to create space between paragraphs. It also possible to create additional spacing between the lines of a paragraph, this is known as Line Spacing.
  • Page formatting involves setting the Page Margin, Page Size, Page Orientation (Landscape & Portrait) and other option. Whenever we create a new document, the document is created with pre-define page setting.
  1. Header and Footer allows us to print standard place of text and on image at the top or bottom of each page of the document.
  2. S. Word allows us to preview on screen what we wish to print.
